Steel Tank Institute
The Acterra Group is a long standing member of the Steel Tank Institute (STI). Acterra licenses various steel tank technologies through STI including Fireguard, Flameshield, Permatank and others.
Acterra manufactures aboveground storage tanks suitable for a variety of applications, and is compliant with AST regulations and standards.
Our aboveground storage solutions include:
Flammable & Combustible Storage
Single-wall and double-wall tanks are manufactured per UL142 fabrication standards. These tanks are labeled and designed for storing flammable and combustible liquids. Manufactured as horizontal or vertical, the tank can be cylindrical or rectangular, using carbon or stainless steel. Tank capacities up to 50,000 gallons are available in single or multi-compartments.
API-12F Shop Welded Tanks
Strict quality control assures that each tank is manufactured with A-36 (commercial quality) 3/16 and 1/4 inch steel. Tanks are interior and exterior welded to API specifications and pressure tested.
Flameshield® aboveground storage tanks are manufactured with a tight-wrap double-wall design. Standard features include 2-hour fire tested performance, built-in secondary containment and interstitial monitoring capability.
F921® aboveground storage tanks are manufactured with a doublewall steel design. Standard features include built-in, testable, interstitial monitoring capability and impermeable secondary containment. The F921® delivers uncompromising performance, reliability, service and economy.
Fireguard® double-wall fire-protected aboveground storage tank features an inner and outer steel tank with a minimum of three-inch unique lightweight thermal insulation material that exceeds the UL-2085 2-hour fire test. Insulating material is 75% lighter than concrete, reducing shipping, installation and relocation costs.
Fireguard® Tanks are lightweight and come with a 30-year limited warranty. The high efficiency insulation protects the inner tank in the unlikely event of a fire or extreme heat. It is porous to allow fluid migration through the interstice to the monitoring point. Both horizontal and vertical tanks are available.
Wireless Tank Monitoring
Acterra Group offers both vertical and horizontal asphalt storage tanks that keep heat loss to a minimum at a reasonable cost. Our tanks are built to order and can be configured to suit your exact needs. Many options are available, including the components for mixing. Our asphalt storage tanks feature:
Acterra storage tanks, for liquid asphalt, can be constructed in both vertical and horizontal tank formats for the storage and heating of liquid asphalt cement (AC). Numerous options are available, including mixers for polymer-modified asphalts and emissions control equipment. Capacities range form 5000 – 40000 gallons.
- Fiberglass insulation
- Overflow protection
- Heating coils
- Heating Coils
- Emissions Control
- Internal bulkheads
- Ladders, Stairs & Catwalks
- Pressure and Radar Level Gauges
- Heater, unloading pumps and mixer options available

Process and Storage Tanks and Vessels Built to Precise Specifications
Acterra Group fabricates stainless steel and carbon steel process and storage tanks and vessels for industrial applications. Acterra can deliver quality tanks and vessels designed to your specific specifications. A processing operation will undoubtedly utilize some combination of storage tanks between the receipt of raw materials and the packaging systems. We provide a variety of tanks, customized in size and function to meet your production needs, including:
Insulated Tanks – Designed to maintain a product’s temperature during processing.
Jacketed Tanks – Designed to transfer heat from hot-to-cold or cold-to-hot.
Single-Shell Tanks – Designed to hold raw materials, WIP and finished products where maintaining a set temperature is not required.
Our tanks and vessels are manufactured in accordance to our stringent Quality Assurance program and offer regulatory-approved design and construction. Our tanks and vessels are available in two to 60,000 gallon capacities.
Acterra also offers many different types of tank mixers, agitators, and heating systems. Chemical and industrial tanks serve many purposes, including, but not limited to:
- Acid tanks
- Blend and mix tanks
- Buffer tanks
- Circulation tanks
- Feed tanks
- Filtrate tanks
- Holding tanks
- Jacketed tanks
- Pump tanks
- Receiver tanks
- Solution tanks
- Solvent tanks
- Storage tanks
- Stripper/Scrubber Columns
- Surge tanks
- Weighing vessels
The Acterra Group can provide your organization with a complete fueling package built in our manufacturing facilities and ready to install on your site. Systems can include high speed pumps, commercial grade dispensers and fuel management systems. We ship systems throughout the country. You simply need to provide an electrical hook-up and your system can be operational quickly. Tank systems can be provided on a rental basis. Rental tanks are typically 10,000 gallon UL 2085 tanks with dispensing capabilities.
Our manufacturing division works with a variety of customers in the fabrication of steel products. Storage silos, asphalt tank systems, vats, hoppers, insulated systems and steel parts for OEMs are just some of the specialized products we can, and have, fabricated. If you need something built from carbon or stainless steel, the Manufacturing Division of Acterra can be of service.
Our manufacturing division works with a variety of industries to meet unique storage needs. We have supplied tanks and silos for many different applications including cement, feed, plastics, fertilizers and chemicals to name a few. We can design and build what you need no matter what the application and environment.
We provide silos to the the dry bulk storage market with the installation of storage silos. Similar to our other storage tanks, typically our dry bulk silos are engineered to meet local building codes. For the storage of heavy materials such as sand, cement, gravel, or coal, we can custom design each steel storage silo design to withstand any specific gravity desired. Our carbon steel silo construction is designed and install to survive even the harshest of conditions such as excessive heat and heavy snow loads.
Manufacturing tanks and silos for underground bulk storage in a variety of retail, commercial & industrial applications. Acterra Group is compliant with federal regulations for storing petroleum and hazardous substances underground.
Our underground storage solutions include:
PERMATANK® double-wall jacketed underground storage tank features an inner steel tank coupled with an exterior corrosion resistant fiberglass tank. A unique standoff material separating the inner and outer tanks creates a uniform interstitial space ensuring rapid and accurate leak detection.
Gravity Oil Water Separators are designed for gravity-induced separation of oil from water. The separators are designed for gravity removal of non-emulsified hydrocarbons, i.e., motor oils, lightweight oils and related petroleum products with a specific gravity of less than 1.0.
Double-wall underground storage tank features a pre-engineered corrosion protection system that provides ongoing monitoring of corrosion protection. The sti-P3® system has provided reliable, long-term performance for over 265,000 steel underground storage tanks.
ACT-100® Steel/FRP composite tank features a strong steel tank for structural integrity, and a 100-mil fiberglass outer coating for longlasting corrosion protection. Double-wall design allows continuous interstitial leak detection and monitoring.
Acterra provides above-ground tank inspections through the Steel Tank Institute’s SP001 Standard. Inspection of above-ground storage tanks (ASTs) can be a critical compliance issue under the planning requirements of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s rule for Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC). Steel Tank Institute in 2000 released the first version of Standard for the Inspection of Above-ground Storage Tanks – the STI SP001 standard – which provides a means for AST owners to comply with EPA mandates. The standard, now in its fifth edition, has been updated by consensus of tank owners, tank manufacturers and other industry leaders.
